What is Pilates?

Pilates is one of the most effective and popular ways to build strength, improve posture, and enhance flexibility. Developed by Joseph Pilates, this method focuses on core stability, controlled movements, and breathwork to create a balanced, strong, and resilient body. Whether you’re an athlete, a yogi, or just looking to move better in daily life, Pilates is a low-impact, full-body workout that delivers incredible results.

At Soul Fire Yoga, we offer two styles of Mat Pilates to suit different needs:

Pilates Strength

Designed to build core power, muscle endurance, and stability, this class will challenge you with dynamic movements that strengthen and sculpt your entire body.

We invite the use of blocks, bands, straps and balls to add resistance and value to the exercises, although not mandatory.

We offer a variety of layers to each exercise to ensure that they are available and accessible to everyone.  Each layer is invitational, for people to meet their own level of encouragement/challenge for their body at each session.

What to wear/bring:

It is best to wear leggings and a vest top, or shorts and a t-shirt. You can bring your yoga mat (if you have one) and a water bottle. You can also bring a towel to use if you would like to take a shower here after class. We have mats and towels to hire for £1 each if needed. Straps and pilates balls will be at the studio for you to use.
